Lilly's Princess Birthday Cookies

My niece Lilly is turning 5 and I wanted to make cookies for her party. She loves princesses and wanted a princess themed birthday. Her favorite Disney Princess is Ariel, so of course I had to try making mermaid tails.

I followed this tutorial made by Amber Spiegel of Sweetambs to make the mermaid scales. I have never worked with metallic shimmer paint so I skipped that step (since I was trying multiple brand new techniques already...).

Again, I ran into consistency issues. Only one color for the mermaid scales came out correctly (light pink) but the light blue and purple was too runny (see above picture).

Overall it was fun, and packaging them up for the party was fast and easy too. I printed the tags on the computer and used plastic gift bags that I got from Daiso.

I'm excited to make cookies for my nephew's birthday party next month :)
